Antioxidants

Antioxidants are substances that fight damage from free radicals. Free radicals are generated naturally within the body and outside in the form of sunlight, pollution, cigarette smoke, xrays and chemicals. Free radical damage has been linked with some serious health conditions such as atherosclerosis, cancer and other chronic conditions. Free radical damage also accelerates ageing. Including plenty of antioxidant rich foods in the diet can ensure free radical damage is kept to a minimum. All fruit and vegetables, herbs and spices contain antioxidants so eat a variety of colourful vegetables everyday. Some of the foods with the highest antioxidants are: Gogi berries, blueberries and hooray - dark chocolate.
