Gluten
There has been a lot of hype about gluten over the past few years. With many celebrities going gluten free and many more shops, cafes and restaurants catering for gluten free clientele. This is an important step for those with coeliac disease, an autoimmune disease affecting approximately 1 in 100 people. Coeliac disease is diagnosed via a blood test and a strict gluten free diet will reverse the disease. Some people will test negative to the coeliac blood test yet still display the same symptoms when gluten is consumed such as abdominal pain, bloating, depression, constipation, headaches, mind fog, and joint pain. This is classed as non coeliac gluten sensitivity and affects many more of us. If you suspect you may have this I recommend working with a nutritional therapist who will guide you through the steps you need to take to be symptom free.
